Who Are the Southern Operations Room?

The Southern Operations Room, or SOR, was like a special team in a country called Syria. It was made up of different groups who wanted to work together. They started in the southern parts of Syria, in places like Daraa and Suwayda. Think of it like different sports teams joining forces for one big game! They even got bigger and helped in other areas too, like near the big city of Damascus.

When Did They Start Their Big Plan?

This team officially announced they were working together on December 6, 2024. They got ready for a big push, like planning a surprise party! Before that, in 2023, leaders from about 25 different groups met up.

They were like students in a classroom, with advisors helping them plan for something important that was going to happen soon. They came from an older group that had already been fighting for a while.

Why Were They So Important?

The SOR did something super cool! They were the very first group of rebels to take over the big city of Damascus during a time of conflict. Imagine being the first ones to reach the top of the tallest slide at the playground! This showed they were a strong and organized team. Their actions were a big deal in the story of what was happening in Syria.

What Happened to the Team?

Sometimes, even the best teams have to change. One of the important parts of the SOR was called the Eighth Brigade. By April 13, 2025, they decided to stop being part of the team. This happened after a disagreement. Their spokesperson made a video to tell everyone that they were disbanding, which means they were going their separate ways. It’s like when a club decides to close down.
