Imagine a queen who was married to a king for a super long time! That was Queen Sirikit. She was born a princess named Mom Rajawongse Sirikit Kitiyakara. She became the Queen of Thailand when she married King Bhumibol Adulyadej. They were married for many, many years, and she was by his side for most of his time as king. She was a very important person in Thailand!

A Love Story in Paris!

How did Queen Sirikit meet the King? It’s like a fairy tale! Her dad was the Thai ambassador in Paris, France. That’s where she met Prince Bhumibol. They fell in love and got married in 1950. It was a big celebration! Soon after, King Bhumibol became king, and Sirikit became queen. They had four children together: Ubol Ratana, Vajiralongkorn, Sirindhorn, and Chulabhorn.

Queen Regent: A Special Job!

Sometimes, the King needed to take a break to become a Buddhist monk for a little while. When that happened, Queen Sirikit stepped in to do his job! She was called the Queen Regent. This means she was in charge of the country while the King was away. It was a very important and responsible job, showing how much everyone trusted her.

A Queen for a Very Long Time!

Queen Sirikit was the Queen of Thailand for over 66 years! That’s longer than most people live! She was married to King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who was the longest-reigning king in the world. Because she was his queen for so long, she was also the world's longest-serving queen consort. She lived a very full life and passed away at the amazing age of 93.
