Shahid Afridi was born a long time ago, in 1977, in Pakistan. He started playing cricket when he was young and got really, really good. He played his first big game in 1996.
He was so fast with his bat that in just 37 swings, he hit a century, which is like scoring 100 points! That was a world record for a long time. He also got to be the captain of his team, which is like being the leader of your class.
Winning Gold for Pakistan!
Shahid Afridi was a star in big cricket games called the T20 World Cup. In 2009, he helped Pakistan win the whole tournament! He scored lots of runs and took important wickets. He was so good that people called him the 'Player of the Tournament' and even 'Player of the Match' in the final game. Winning the World Cup is like winning the biggest prize at the Olympics for cricket players!
