Key Facts
Who's That Rock Star?
Imagine a super cool musician who plays the bass guitar for the famous band Weezer! That's Scott Shriner! He's been rocking out with them for a super long time, making their songs sound amazing. He joined Weezer way back in 2001, which is longer than many kids have been alive! He's the longest-serving bass player the band has ever had, which is pretty impressive.
From Soldier to Rockstar!
Before Scott Shriner was making music, he was a brave U.S. Marine! That's right, he served in the military. Then, when he was 25, he moved to a big city called Los Angeles to chase his dream of playing music. He even played with Vanilla Ice's band for a while! It shows that if you have a dream, you can work hard to make it happen.
Joining the Weezer Family!
Scott Shriner joined Weezer because the old bass player had to leave. At first, it was just to help out, but he was so good that they asked him to stay! His first album with them was called 'Maladroit'. He also gets to sing some songs sometimes, which is really neat. He's a big part of why Weezer sounds so great!
More Than Just Bass!
Scott Shriner isn't just a fantastic bass player; he's also a songwriter! He helped write a song called 'Cold Dark World' and even sang the main part of it. He also played in another band called The Special Goodness. It's cool to see how musicians can be creative in lots of different ways, like singing and writing songs too!
