San Jose State University

San Jose State University, or SJSU for short, is a super big school located right in the middle of San Jose, California. It's like a small city filled with classrooms, libraries, and places for students to learn all sorts of cool things. The main part of the school is huge, about the size of 19 city blocks put together! That's a lot of space for learning and fun.

SJSU is older than almost any other public school in the western United States. It started way back in 1857 as a special school to train teachers. Think of it like the very first brick in a giant LEGO castle that grew and grew over many, many years. It's the oldest part of a whole family of schools called the California State University system.

SJSU is a place where lots of smart people go to learn. About 37,000 students come here every year! Many of them are super athletes who play sports like basketball and soccer. These athletes are so good that they have won many national championships and even won medals in the Olympics! That's like winning a gold star for the whole school.

At SJSU, students can study almost anything they can imagine! There are nine different colleges, and they offer over 250 different kinds of classes and degrees.
