Salt Range

The Salt Range is a special mountain area in Pakistan, a country far away. It's like a giant bumpy line of hills stretching across the land. These mountains are named after the huge amounts of salt found there.

Think of it like a giant salt shaker for the whole country! They sit next to a big flat area called the Potohar Plateau and near a big river called the Jhelum River. It's a very interesting place to explore!

Did you know these mountains are super, super old? They are so old that the rocks here have fossils of sea creatures from a time when the whole area was actually an ocean! That was millions and millions of years ago, even before dinosaurs were around. So, these mountains are like a giant history book telling us about ancient seas. The most famous thing about the Salt Range is its salt! There are huge mines, like the Khewra mine, where people dig out tons of salt. This salt is used for cooking and many other things. But guess what else they find? Coal! It's not the best coal, but it's still useful. So, these mountains are like a treasure chest filled with salt and some black, rocky treasure too.

The highest point in the Salt Range is a mountain called Sakesar. It's really tall! Imagine a mountain that's much taller than the tallest building you've ever seen. And that's not all! There are also beautiful lakes nestled in the mountains, like Namal Lake, Khabikki Lake, and Uchhali Lake. These lakes are like sparkling jewels in the salty mountains, making the whole place even more magical.
