Imagine being the boss of a whole big city like Toronto! That's what Rob Ford did. He was the mayor from 2010 to 2014. Before that, he was like a city helper called a councillor. He loved helping people in his neighborhood and wanted to make Toronto a great place for everyone. He was a businessman before he became a politician, which means he knew a lot about how things work.
A Bumpy Ride as Mayor
Being mayor can be tricky, and Rob Ford had some tough times. In 2013, there were stories about him having problems with drugs and alcohol. It was a big deal, and lots of people talked about it.
Even though it was hard, Rob Ford didn't give up his job right away. The city council decided to let someone else help with some of his mayor duties while he got better. It was like taking a break to get stronger.
