Riverside Church

Riverside Church is a HUGE building in a super busy place called New York City. It's in a neighborhood called Morningside Heights, which is like a special spot surrounded by big schools. Think of it like being on a playground next to the library and the science lab!

The church is so big it takes up a whole block, like a giant LEGO castle. It's near a famous spot called Grant's Tomb, where a very important president is buried.

This amazing church was built a long, long time ago, in 1930! That's even before your grandparents were born. It was designed to look like a castle from old stories, with pointy towers and big windows. Inside, there's a main room called a nave, and a special front part called a chancel. It also has a super tall tower that's as tall as a 30-story building! That's way taller than a giraffe!

Guess what? The tallest tower has a special musical instrument with 74 bells inside! It's called a carillon, and it's the heaviest one in the whole world.

Imagine all those bells ringing together to make beautiful music. This giant bell instrument was made to remember a kind lady named Laura Spelman Rockefeller. There's also a newer part of the church named after the famous leader Martin Luther King Jr.

Riverside Church is special because it's a place where people from all over the world can come together.
