A King's Castle and Kingdom!

Richard II was a king in England, a country made of land and islands. He lived a long, long time ago, when castles were super important! England has green fields, rolling hills, and sometimes rainy weather. It's a place where people speak English, just like you might! Richard was born in a place called Bordeaux, which is far away in France, but he became king of England.

When a Boy Became King!

Richard became king when he was only 10 years old! That's like being the boss of your whole school when you're still learning to tie your shoes! His grandpa, King Edward III, died, and suddenly Richard was in charge. But when you're that young, grown-ups usually help. So, Richard's uncles helped him rule at first. It was a busy time with a big war called the Hundred Years' War happening.

The Big Uprising!

When Richard was a young king, something called the Peasants' Revolt happened. Imagine if lots of people in your town got very angry and marched together! Richard, even though he was young, was brave. He met with the angry people and helped stop the trouble. It was a very important moment for him and for England. He also liked art and fancy things, making his castle a beautiful place.

A King's Troubles and Farewell

Being king wasn't always easy. Some important men, called nobles, didn't like how Richard was ruling. They took over the government for a while! Later, Richard got his power back, but he wasn't always kind to those who had crossed him. Eventually, a man named Henry took Richard's crown. Richard was put in prison and sadly, he disappeared. His story shows how tricky being a king can be!
