Syrian Free Army

The Syrian Free Army is a group of soldiers who used to be part of the Syrian army but decided to do things differently. They were trained by the United States to help protect a part of their country. Think of them like a special team formed to tackle a big problem.

They were known by a few different names before, like the New Syrian Army and the Revolutionary Commando Army, but now they are called the Syrian Free Army. They are connected to a place called the al-Tanf base.

This group started because some soldiers didn't agree with what was happening in their country during a time called the Syrian civil war. They wanted to make sure their part of Syria was safe from a group called the Islamic State. They officially became the New Syrian Army in 2015.

Later, in 2016, the group changed its name to the Revolutionary Commando Army. Finally, they became the Syrian Free Army. It's like they kept changing their team name to fit their new goals!

The main reason this group was formed was to help keep a part of southeastern Syria safe. They worked with the United States to train and get ready for their mission. Their goal was to protect people and make sure bad groups didn't cause harm. Even though they faced challenges, their existence showed how people can come together to try and make things better and safer for their communities.

The Syrian Free Army has gone through some changes. At one point, the United States helped train them. However, there were also some problems, like accusations of unfairness.

Because of these issues, a leader named Mohanad al-Tala was removed. After that, the group changed its name again to the Syrian Free Army. It shows that even groups of soldiers have to adapt and sometimes make big changes to keep going.
