Meet the Mighty Red Fort!

The Red Fort is a super old and very big castle in India, made mostly of red stone. It's like a giant playground for kings! For a long, long time, it was the home of emperors called Mughals. They were like the rulers of a big kingdom. The fort looks so grand because it was built by a special emperor named Shah Jahan, who also wanted a new capital city. It's a place where history happened!

A Castle Fit for an Emperor!

Emperor Shah Jahan decided to build this amazing fort because he wanted to move his capital city to Delhi. He hired a super smart architect, Ustad Ahmad Lahori, who was also the brain behind the famous Taj Mahal! The fort was designed to be beautiful and strong, mixing different styles of building from faraway lands.

It was originally painted in red and white, making it look even more spectacular. It's a true masterpiece of art and building!

Stories of Battles and Flags!

Over many years, the Red Fort has seen a lot! In one big fight, invaders came and took away treasures and jewels. Later, when the British took over, they even knocked down some of the beautiful marble parts.

But the strong red walls stayed standing! A very special moment happened here on India's Independence Day when the first Prime Minister raised the Indian flag. Now, every year, the leader does it again!

Why We Still Love It Today!

Even though emperors don't live here anymore, the Red Fort is still super important. It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which means it's recognized as a special place for everyone in the world to learn about. It reminds us of India's amazing past and the clever builders who made it.

When you see pictures of it, you can imagine all the royal people and exciting events that happened within its giant red walls!
