Meet the Red Deer!

Red deer are super cool, large deer that roam in forests and grassy places. They are called 'red' because their fur is reddish-brown, especially in the summer. These animals are herbivores, which means they love to munch on plants, grass, and leaves. They are also very social and like to live in groups, especially the females and their babies. It's like a big deer family party!

Where Do They Live?

Red deer can be found in many parts of the world! You can find them in Europe, parts of Asia, and even in North Africa. They like forests where they can hide and eat, but they also enjoy open fields for grazing. Sometimes, they even live in mountains! They are pretty adaptable and can live in different kinds of homes as long as there's food and safety.

Antlers: The Coolest Crowns!

The male red deer, called stags, grow amazing antlers every year! These antlers can get really big and branch out, looking like a crown. They use them to show off to the lady deer and sometimes to spar with other stags. But guess what? They shed their antlers every spring and grow new ones! It's like getting a brand new hairstyle every year.

Red Deer Babies and Big Deer!

Baby red deer are called calves, and they are born in the spring. They are super cute and have spots to help them hide from danger. A mother deer will hide her calf while she goes to find food. Red deer are quite large. A grown-up male red deer can be as tall as a grown-up person standing on a chair, and weigh as much as a small car!
