Red Bull King of the Air

Red Bull King of the Air is a super exciting competition where brave athletes use giant kites to fly super high in the sky! They do incredible jumps and tricks, like spinning and flipping, while soaring way above the water. It's like a kiteboarding circus in the air!

The judges watch to see who jumps the highest, does the coolest moves, and looks the most stylish doing it. It's a real test of skill and bravery for these kiteboarding stars!

This amazing event first happened a long time ago, in the year 2000! It began on a windy beach in Hawaii called Ho'okipa. After a break for a few years, it came back even bigger and better in 2013.

This time, it landed in a place called Cape Town, South Africa, right on a beach called Big Bay. It's been held there almost every year since, with thousands of people coming to watch the incredible kite flyers!

It's cool because these athletes are like superheroes of the wind! They jump so high, sometimes as high as a four-story building, or even taller than a giraffe! They perform tricks that look impossible, showing off amazing control and courage. It inspires people to try new things and be brave. Plus, it's super fun to watch these giant kites dance in the sky while the riders do flips and twists!

The athletes use special, really big kites that catch the wind. The wind pushes the kite, and because the kite is so large, it pulls the rider up into the air! They have special boards that help them glide on the water. They practice for a long time to learn how to control the kite perfectly and do amazing tricks. It takes a lot of strength and skill to make those huge jumps and land safely.
