Rashtrapati Bhavan

Rashtrapati Bhavan is a super-duper big building in New Delhi, India. It's where the President of India lives and works. Think of it like the most important house in the whole country!

It's so large it has 340 rooms! That's more rooms than in all the houses on your street put together. It's also surrounded by a huge area called the Presidential Estate, which has beautiful gardens and lots of space to run around.

This amazing palace wasn't always called Rashtrapati Bhavan. A long, long time ago, when people from Britain were in charge of India, it was called Viceroy's House. Then, after India became a free country, it was called Government House. Finally, it became Rashtrapati Bhavan, which means 'Presidential Palace' in Hindi. It took a lot of hard work and many builders to create this grand place.

Rashtrapati Bhavan is special because it's the home of the leader of India. It's where important decisions are made and where guests from other countries are welcomed. It's also one of the biggest homes for a leader in the whole world! It's even bigger than many castles you might see in storybooks. The gardens are a wonderful place for the President to relax.

The Presidential Estate is enormous, covering about 320 acres. That's like having 320 football fields all to yourself! Besides the main building where the President lives, there are also special gardens, places for guards and staff to live, and other important buildings. India also has other special homes for the President in different cities, like in Hyderabad and Shimla, for when they travel.
