Meet the Master Builder!

Edwin Lutyens was a super-talented builder, like a wizard with bricks and stone! He lived a long time ago, from 1869 to 1944. Instead of just copying old buildings, he liked to mix old styles with new ideas.

This made his buildings special and exciting! He designed lots of beautiful houses for rich families and important buildings for everyone to see. He was so good that some people said he was the best builder since a very famous one named Wren!

Adventures in India!

One of Edwin's biggest adventures was helping to build a whole new city in India called New Delhi! It's like he was the main designer for a giant, amazing playground for grown-ups. He worked with another builder named Herbert Baker to create incredible monuments there.

One of these is the India Gate, which is super tall and impressive. He also designed the building where the leaders of India live and work, called the Viceroy's House. It’s now called Rashtrapati Bhavan.

He was inspired by the amazing buildings already in India!

Buildings That Tell Stories

Edwin Lutyens was famous for making buildings that looked both old and new at the same time. He loved to use traditional styles, like those from ancient castles or grand palaces, but he made them work for the people living in his time. Think of it like taking your favorite toy car and adding cool new stickers and wheels to make it even better!

His buildings weren't just pretty; they were also super strong and useful. He was a true artist with buildings!

Why We Remember Edwin

He showed everyone how you can be creative with old ideas and make something totally new and wonderful. He was a true architect who left his mark on the world with his amazing designs.
