Where is This Salty Land?

The Rann of Kutch is a super big place that stretches across two countries: India and Pakistan! Most of it is in a part of India called Gujarat, and a little bit is in Pakistan. It's like a giant, flat desert made of salt. It's so big, it's hard to see the end of it!

A Sea That Dried Up!

Believe it or not, this salty land used to be part of a huge ocean called the Arabian Sea! Over a very, very long time, the water dried up, leaving behind all the salt. It's like when you leave a puddle of salty water in the sun, and only the salt is left behind. That's how the Rann of Kutch was made!

Two Big Salt Flats!

The Rann of Kutch is so enormous that it's split into two main parts: the Great Rann and the Little Rann. They are both huge areas covered in salt. Sometimes, after it rains, some parts can look like shallow lakes, but they quickly dry up again, leaving more salt behind.

What's It Like There?

It's a very dry and salty place. The weather can get super hot in the summer, like being in a giant oven! In the winter, it's a bit cooler. Because it's so salty, not many plants can grow there, but it's a special home for some amazing animals.
