Rafael Trujillo

Imagine a leader who was in charge for a super long time! That was Rafael Trujillo, also known as 'El Jefe,' which means 'The Chief.' He was born in a country called the Dominican Republic. He became the leader and stayed in power for over 30 years, from 1930 to 1961.

That's longer than most kids are old! He made many changes, some good and some not so good, but he definitely left his mark on his country.

Trujillo started as a soldier and worked his way up to become the president. He was very good at making sure he stayed in charge. He controlled the army and the police, which helped him keep his power.

During his time, he built lots of roads and schools, which helped the country grow. But he also made sure people who disagreed with him didn't have a voice. It was a time of big changes and strict rules.

Trujillo wanted the Dominican Republic to look modern and strong. He changed the country's name to 'Trujillo City' for a while and put his face on money and stamps! He also tried to make the country look more European by encouraging white people to move there. He believed this would make the country better. He was very proud of his country and wanted everyone to know it.

After ruling for so long, Trujillo's time as leader came to an end. He was assassinated in 1961. His death was a huge event and changed the Dominican Republic forever. People remember him as a strong leader who brought order and built things, but also as someone who was very strict and didn't allow much freedom. His story shows how one person can have a massive impact on a whole country.
