The Qajar Dynasty: Kings of Persia!

A long, long time ago, a group of people called the Qajar tribe became very important. One of them, Shahverdi Qajar, was a leader in the 1500s. His family eventually became the kings of a big country called Persia, which is now Iran. They officially started ruling in 1789 and kept the crown for many, many years!

The Qajar kings ruled Persia from 1789 all the way until 1925. That's longer than your grandparents' grandparents have been alive! They were in charge during a time when many big changes were happening in the world. They had to make important decisions for their country.

The most famous Qajar king was Mohammad Khan Qajar. He was the one who really brought the Qajar family to power in 1789. Later, some Qajar family members even became princes and princesses in Russia! They were important people in both countries for a while.

After ruling for so long, the Qajar dynasty's time as kings came to an end in 1925. The people in charge of Persia at the time decided it was time for a new leader. They chose a new shah, named Reza Shah, to rule the country instead. This marked the end of the Qajar family's royal reign.
