Welcome to Port Said!

Port Said is a super cool city in Egypt, right on the edge of the big blue Mediterranean Sea. It's like a gateway to a very important water road called the Suez Canal. This city is so long, it stretches for about 30 kilometers along the coast, which is like walking from your school to the park and back!

It's the capital of its own area, called a governorate, and it's home to lots of people, almost 700,000!

A City Born from a Big Project!

This amazing city wasn't always here. It was built starting in 1859, way back when people were digging the super long Suez Canal. The builders made sure to create beautiful old houses with fancy balconies that stick out, making the city look really special.

It's like the buildings are wearing decorations! Port Said is connected to its twin city, Port Fuad, by free boats that go back and forth all day.

A Meeting Place for the World!

Long ago, Port Said was a bustling place where people from all over the world came to visit and live. Imagine people from many different countries and religions all being friends and living together! A famous writer once said that if you wanted to find someone traveling the world, you just had to wait at the docks of London or Port Said, and they would eventually show up.

It was that important for travelers!

Why Port Said is So Special

Port Said is important because it's right where ships can go from the Mediterranean Sea into the Suez Canal, and then out to other oceans. This makes it a fantastic place for trading goods. Think of all the toys, food, and clothes that travel on big ships – many of them pass by Port Said! It's a busy hub for business and a very interesting place with a unique look.
