Port Harcourt

Port Harcourt is a super big city in Nigeria, a country in Africa. It's so big that it's the fifth most crowded city there! Imagine a playground filled with millions of kids – that's how many people live in Port Harcourt. It sits right next to a river called the Bonny River, which is like a watery highway for boats.

A long, long time ago, when Nigeria was being built by the British, Port Harcourt was made to help send coal, which is like a black rock that burns, to other places. They even built a special train track just for the coal! But then, something even more exciting happened. In 1958, they started sending out Nigeria's first-ever oil, which is like black liquid gold, from this very city!

Port Harcourt is super important because it's a major place for sending oil out of Nigeria to other countries. This oil helps power cars, make plastic toys, and light up homes all over the world! Because of all this oil, the city has grown bigger and better, with tall buildings and bridges that go over roads, like giant arms reaching across the sky.

Getting to Port Harcourt is easy because it has its own big airport, called Port Harcourt International Airport. It's like a giant landing strip for airplanes! There's also a special place for the Nigerian Air Force that sometimes lets passenger planes land too. So, people and goods can travel to and from this amazing city very quickly.
