Meet General Díaz!

Porfirio Díaz was a brave general in Mexico. He was born a long, long time ago, in 1830. He was a leader who helped Mexico fight against other countries trying to take over. He was also a politician, which means he was involved in running the country. He became president not just once, but three times! He was in charge for so long that people called it the 'Porfiriato'.

From Studying to Leading

When Porfirio was young, he thought about becoming a priest! But then he decided to study law instead. He even learned from a very important leader named Benito Juárez. Porfirio loved his country and wanted to protect it. He fought in many battles, like the famous Battle of Puebla, where Mexican soldiers won against invaders. He was a strong fighter who never gave up easily.

Mexico's Longest Ruler!

Porfirio Díaz was the leader of Mexico for more than 30 years. That's longer than most kids are old! During his time, Mexico built new things like railroads and factories. It was like Mexico got a big makeover. But not everyone was happy. Some people didn't get to share in all the new buildings and money, and they wanted change.

A Big Change for Mexico

After ruling for so long, Porfirio Díaz eventually had to step down. People wanted a new leader and new ideas. This led to a big event called the Mexican Revolution. Porfirio Díaz left Mexico and went to live in a beautiful city called Paris. He passed away there in 1915. His time as leader was a very important part of Mexico's story.
