Oaxaca is a super special place in the southern part of Mexico. It's like a big, colorful puzzle made up of 570 smaller towns! Many of these towns have their own special ways of doing things, passed down from their grandparents.
The biggest and most important city in Oaxaca is called Oaxaca de Juárez. It's a place where you can see amazing old ruins and learn about people who lived there a very, very long time ago.

Oaxaca has a long, beautiful edge along the big Pacific Ocean. This means there are lots of sandy beaches perfect for playing and swimming. Places like Huatulco are famous for fun resorts, while Puerto Escondido has amazing waves for surfing. You can also find quieter spots like Mazunte where you might see sea turtles! It's a place where the mountains meet the sea, making it super exciting.

Oaxaca is famous because many Indigenous people still live there, keeping their old traditions alive. The Zapotec and Mixtec people are two of the biggest groups. Their cultures have stayed strong because Oaxaca has tall mountains and deep valleys that kept them a bit separate.
