Pope Victor I

Imagine a super-important person who helped guide lots of people a very, very long time ago, even before your grandparents were born! That was Pope Victor I. He was like the main helper for a big group of people called Christians in the city of Rome. He lived way back in the second century, which is like a thousand years before knights and castles were even a thing! He was a very special leader.

Pope Victor I didn't start his life in Rome. He was born in a place called Roman Africa. Think of it like someone from another country becoming a big leader in your town! He was of Berber origin, which means he came from a group of people who have lived in North Africa for a super long time. It’s amazing to think how far he traveled and how much he helped people in a new place.

Pope Victor I was known for making some big decisions. One of the most important things he did was help decide when to celebrate Easter! Back then, everyone celebrated it on different days. Victor I helped make it more organized so everyone could celebrate together. He also made sure people followed the rules of their religion, which was super important for keeping everyone united.

After he was done being Pope, people thought Victor I was so good and important that they called him a saint! A saint is someone who is remembered for being very holy and helping others. His special day, called a feast day, is celebrated on July 28th. It’s like a special birthday party to remember all the good things he did for so many people a long, long time ago.
