Key Facts
Where is Piedmont?
Piedmont is a super big region in the northwest of Italy, like a giant slice of pizza! It's so big, it's the second-largest region in all of Italy, only smaller than Sicily. It has tall mountains on one side, like a big hug from nature. It even touches other countries like France and Switzerland, so it's like Italy's neighborly friend!
What's it Like There?
Piedmont has amazing mountains that are taller than many giraffes stacked on top of each other! It also has rolling hills that look like green waves. In the summer, it can be warm like a sunny day at the park, and in the winter, it can get cold enough for snow, perfect for building snowmen! It's a place with lots of different weather.
Meet Turin, the Big City!
The most important city in Piedmont is called Turin. It's like the capital of this big region. Guess what? Turin used to be the very first capital of the whole country of Italy a long, long time ago! It's a busy place with lots of people and fun things to see and do, like a giant playground for grown-ups and kids.
People and What They Do
Lots of people live in Piedmont, more than 4 million! That's like filling up a huge stadium with people over and over again. People in Piedmont speak Italian, but some also speak a special local language called Piedmontese. They work in factories making cars and other cool things, and they also grow yummy food like grapes for wine and hazelnuts for chocolate!
