Palm Islands

The Palm Islands are super special because they aren't natural! They are like giant sandcastles built in the ocean, off the coast of a country called the United Arab Emirates. Think of them as three giant palm trees made of land, sticking out into the blue sea.

They are so big, you can see them from space! They were built by a company called Nakheel Properties, who are like master builders of the sea.

Building these islands was a HUGE project! It started a little while ago, around 2001, and took about six years to finish. Imagine scooping up tons and tons of sand and rock from the bottom of the ocean and piling it up to make new land. It's like building a giant LEGO castle, but with real sand and water! They were built around the same time as other cool islands called The World Islands.

These islands are in a warm place with lots of sunshine, perfect for beaches and swimming. Because they are in the ocean, they are surrounded by water, just like a real island. Building them changed the way the water moves and where little sea creatures live. It's like adding a new playground to the ocean, and all the sea animals have to get used to their new home!

Did you know that the Palm Islands are so big that they can be seen from space? Wow! They are made of three main parts: Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Islands (which used to be called Palm Deira), and Palm Jebel Ali. These islands are home to many people and have lots of hotels and places to visit. They are a super impressive way humans have changed the land!
