Palisades del Rey, California

Palisades del Rey is a special spot in California, right near the big, blue ocean! It's like a little hill, about as tall as a 13-story building, that looks out over the water. The name 'Palisades del Rey' actually means 'Palisades of the King' in Spanish. It's a sunny place where you can almost feel the ocean breeze even if you're not right on the beach!

A long, long time ago, in 1921, some clever people decided to build a new neighborhood called Palisades del Rey. They wanted it to be a super cool place, especially for movie stars! Many famous actors and movie makers built their homes here, like a place to relax and enjoy the beach. It was like a special club for people who made movies!

Guess what? Some of the biggest movie stars from Hollywood used to have their beach houses right here! Imagine running into a famous actor while you're playing in the sand. People like Cecil B. DeMille, who made amazing movies, lived here. It was a place where dreams were built, both on the movie screen and by the sea.

Today, Palisades del Rey is part of a bigger area called Playa del Rey. It's right next to a HUGE airport, the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Think of an airport so big it takes up a lot of space! The neighborhood is also close to a long, sandy beach called Dockweiler State Beach, perfect for building sandcastles and flying kites.
