Key Facts
Meet the Flying Giant!
Imagine a super-duper big bird that carries people instead of worms! That's kind of like Pakistan International Airlines, or PIA for short. It's the main airline for the country of Pakistan, like a special flag carrier.
PIA has its main home airport in a city called Karachi, but it also has other important airports in Lahore and Islamabad. Think of these airports as PIA's big garages where the planes sleep and get ready for their adventures!
Where Did These Planes Come From?
PIA wasn't always called PIA! It started a long, long time ago, even before some of your grandparents were born, as a different company called Orient Airways. It began in a city called Calcutta, which is now in India.
When Pakistan became a new country, the airline moved there. Later, it became the Pakistan International Airlines we know today. It was one of the very first airlines to fly to faraway places like London and even China!
Super Speedy Flights!
Did you know PIA once flew a plane for over 22 hours straight, without stopping? That's longer than you'd stay awake at school for a whole week! This amazing flight went all the way from Hong Kong to London. PIA was also the first airline that wasn't from a Communist country to fly to China. It's like being the first kid on the playground to try a new game!
PIA's Big Family
PIA is a really big airline, with lots of planes! It flies to many cities inside Pakistan and also to places all over the world, like in Asia, Europe, and even North America. It's like having a giant map with tons of dots showing where PIA can take you. They even have a special club for people who fly with them a lot, called Awards +Plus. It helps you get cool rewards for flying!
