Padma River

Imagine a river so wide, it's like a giant blue ribbon stretching across the land! The Padma River is a super important part of Bangladesh. It's actually a special branch of an even bigger river called the Ganges. The Padma flows for a really long way, about as long as walking to school and back many, many times! It's a busy highway for boats and a home for lots of fish.

The Padma River starts its journey and then heads southeast, like a car driving towards the sunrise. It travels for about 356 kilometers (that's 221 miles!). Along its banks, you'll find a big city called Rajshahi.

The river is so powerful that sometimes it changes the land around it, carrying away bits of the shore. It eventually joins up with another river called the Meghna before heading to the big, salty Bay of Bengal.

This river is like the lifeblood of Bangladesh! People use it for traveling, fishing, and getting water. It helps grow food by bringing water to the farms. But the Padma is also a bit wild! It can change its shape over time. Since 1966, a lot of land has been lost because the river's strong currents have washed away parts of the land. It's a reminder of nature's power!

Many people live near the Padma River because it gives them so much. They can catch fish to eat or sell, and the water helps their crops grow. The river is also a way to travel between places, like a super-long road made of water.
