The President's Super Special Room!

The Oval Office is the President of the United States' special room where they work. It's inside a building called the West Wing at the White House. Think of it like the principal's office, but way, way bigger and for the President! It's shaped like an oval, which means it's roundish with two flat sides, kind of like a football.

This special room wasn't always here! A long time ago, there was an Oval Office, but it got damaged. Then, a President named Franklin D. Roosevelt wanted a new one. It was built so he could get around more easily, especially since he used a wheelchair. This new office had lots of windows for sunshine and was designed to be super useful!

The Oval Office has three big windows that look out onto a beautiful garden. The President's desk sits right in front of them. There's also a cozy fireplace with chairs, and bookshelves filled with important books. There are four doors! One leads to a garden, another to a private room, and two others go to different parts of the White House.

Every President gets to make the Oval Office their own! They pick the furniture, the curtains, and even special oval rugs. They also choose artwork to hang on the walls, sometimes borrowing amazing paintings from museums. It's like decorating your own bedroom, but with super important art and furniture!
