Ottoman Interregnum

After a big battle, the Ottoman ruler, Sultan Bayezid I, was captured. This left his sons in a big fight! They all wanted to be the new sultan, like a king. It was like a giant game of musical chairs, but with a whole empire at stake! The empire was called the Ottoman realm, and it was super big and powerful.

The fight lasted for almost 11 years! That's longer than you've been in school! The brothers, named Mehmed, Musa, and others, kept battling each other. They each thought they were the best choice to lead. This made things very confusing and a little scary for the people living in the empire.

Finally, one brother, Mehmed Çelebi, won the big fight. He became Sultan Mehmed I and got to rule the empire. He was like the champion of the royal rumble! He brought peace back to the land after all the fighting. It was a happy ending for the Ottoman Empire!

This time of fighting was called the Interregnum, which means 'between rulers.' It showed how important it was to have one strong leader. When there's a fight for power, it can make everything shaky. Mehmed I's win helped the empire get strong again and continue for many more years.
