Where is Greece?

Greece is a sunny country in Europe, shaped like a hand with lots of fingers reaching into the sea. It has beautiful blue waters and islands everywhere! Otto became king of this amazing place a long, long time ago. He came from a faraway land called Bavaria, which is now part of Germany. Greece is known for its ancient history and yummy food like olives and feta cheese.

A Young King Arrives!

Otto was only 17 years old when he became the King of Greece! That's younger than most people are allowed to drive a car. He was helped by grown-ups at first because he was so young. But soon, the people of Greece wanted him to rule by himself. Otto tried to make Greece a modern country, building schools and helping people. He wanted to be a good king for his new home.

King Otto's Big Changes

King Otto wanted to make Greece better. He built schools so kids could learn, and he tried to set up new services to help everyone. But it wasn't always easy!

Sometimes, other countries would try to tell Greece what to do, and it made things difficult. Once, a big navy even stopped ships from coming to Greece because they were unhappy about something. This made the Greek people a little upset with their king.

Saying Goodbye to the King

Even though Otto tried his best, the people of Greece eventually wanted a different king. They even had a big protest, but nobody got hurt! In the end, Otto had to leave Greece and go back to his old home. He lived there for a few more years before he passed away. It's like when you have to leave a fun party, but you remember all the good times.
