Key Facts
Meet the Kind Helpers!
The Order of Saint Augustine is like a special club for people who want to help others and live a good life. They follow a set of rules written by a very wise man named Saint Augustine a super long time ago, back when knights and castles were real! These helpers are also called Augustinians or Austin friars.
They are part of a big church called the Catholic Church and have been around for hundreds of years, like your grandparents' grandparents' grandparents!
Where Did They Come From?
These helpers started in a place called Tuscany, which is in Italy, a country famous for pizza! A long, long time ago, in 1244, several groups of people who lived like hermits (people who live by themselves) decided to join together. They all loved the Rule of Saint Augustine and wanted to follow it as one big family. It was like a super-group forming to do good deeds!
Superpowers for Good!
One of their special powers is spreading kindness and love for Mary, Jesus' mom. They especially help people remember her as 'Our Lady of Good Counsel,' which means she's good at giving wise advice! They also have a WOW fact: a Pope, who is like the leader of the whole Catholic Church, was chosen from their group in 2025!
That's like a student from your school becoming the principal of all schools!
Helping Hands Around the World!
These Augustinians are like a global team, helping people in many different countries. They are known for their kindness and for sharing important messages. They are like a friendly wave that travels all around the world, connecting people through good deeds and shared beliefs. They show us that by following good rules, we can make the world a better place for everyone.
