Oliver then became the leader of England, but not as a king. He was called the Lord Protector. He was in charge for about five years, making big decisions for the country. It was like being the principal of a whole country!

Oliver Cromwell was a very important person because he helped change England's government. He believed that leaders should be chosen by the people, not just born into power. He was a strong leader, but some people didn't like how he made decisions, especially when he used his army to get what he wanted.
