Oak–hickory forest

Oak-hickory forests are like a big green blanket spread across parts of North America. Think of places like the eastern United States, where the weather is just right for these special trees to grow tall and strong. They love areas that get warm summers and cool winters, perfect for their leaves to change colors in the fall. It's a cozy home for lots of critters!

These forests are named after two superstar trees: the oak and the hickory. Oak trees are famous for their acorns, which are like tiny snacks for squirrels and birds. Hickory trees give us delicious nuts and super strong wood, perfect for making things like baseball bats! These trees can grow to be very, very tall, sometimes taller than a giraffe!
