Nuptse: The Mountain That's Almost Everest's Neighbor!

Nuptse is a super-duper tall mountain in a place called the Himalayas, which are like the world's biggest mountain playground! It's in a region called Khumbu, in Nepal. Think of it like a very important neighbor to Mount Everest, the tallest mountain of all.

Nuptse is only a little bit away from Everest, like walking from your house to your best friend's house. It's a place of snow, ice, and amazing views!

Climbing Nuptse is a HUGE adventure! The very top of Nuptse is called Nuptse I, and it's super high, about 25,791 feet! That's taller than 100 Empire State Buildings stacked on top of each other! The first people to reach the top were Dennis Davis and a brave climber named Sherpa Tashi. They did it a long, long time ago, in 1961. It took a lot of courage and teamwork to get there.

Nuptse is covered in snow and ice, like a giant ice cream cone reaching for the sky. The weather there is very cold and windy, much colder than a winter day at home. It's so high up that the air is thin, making it hard to breathe. This special place is part of a bigger mountain range called the Mahalangur Himal. It's a wild and beautiful place where only the bravest explorers dare to go.

Nuptse is famous because it's so close to Mount Everest, the king of all mountains. Even though it's not the tallest, it's still a very challenging and exciting mountain for climbers.
