Northern Beaches

Imagine a super-long stretch of land right next to the big, blue Pacific Ocean! That's the Northern Beaches! It's like a giant playground for Sydney, Australia. It goes all the way down to where Sydney Harbour starts, and it's bordered by another watery friend called Middle Harbour. To the north, it opens up to a place called Broken Bay. It's a place full of sunshine, waves, and beautiful views.

A super, super long time ago, before there were any houses or roads, people called the Garigal or Caregal people lived here. They knew this land as Guringai country. They probably loved the beaches and the ocean just as much as we do today! Think about how different it must have been with no cars, just the sounds of the waves and the birds. It's like a secret history hidden in the sand.

The Northern Beaches are famous for having lots of amazing beaches! People love to swim, surf, and build sandcastles here. It's a place where you can feel the warm sun on your skin and the cool water on your toes. You can also explore parks and look at the beautiful plants and animals that live there. It’s a perfect spot for a family picnic or a fun day out with friends.

Even though it's a big area, there's a team that helps run things, called the Northern Beaches Council. They help make sure everything is tidy and that people can enjoy living and visiting here. This council was formed not too long ago by joining together three other smaller groups that used to manage different parts of the beaches. It’s like a super-team working together!
