The Amazing National Guard!

The National Guard is like a special team of helpers for every state in the United States. They are also part of the big U.S. Army and Air Force when needed. These amazing protectors have been around for a super long time! Way back when America was just starting, people formed groups to protect their towns. The very first big group like this was in Massachusetts in 1636. That's older than your great-great-great-great-grandparents! Over many years, these groups grew and changed, and eventually, they were called the National Guard.

The National Guard does so many cool things! They can help people when there are floods, fires, or other emergencies. They also train to be soldiers and pilots, just like the regular Army and Air Force. Sometimes, they even get to travel to other countries to help with important missions.
