Nail

Imagine a tiny, strong stick made of metal. That's a nail! It has a pointy end to go into things and a flat head to hit with a hammer. Nails are super important for building and fixing. They help hold pieces of wood together so they don't fall apart. Think about your toys, your house, or even a birdhouse – nails might be holding them together!

Nails work with a little help from a hammer. You line up the pointy end of the nail on the wood, and then you tap the head with the hammer. Tap, tap, tap! The pointy end pushes its way into the wood, and the nail gets stuck. The hammer's force pushes the nail deeper and deeper. It's like a tiny metal spear that holds two things tightly together.

Without nails, building things would be much harder! They are like the glue for wood. Carpenters use them to build houses, schools, and playgrounds. Even when you build with LEGOs, the little bumps and holes work a bit like nails, holding the bricks together. People have been using nails for thousands of years! Long ago, they didn't have metal nails like we do. They used things like sharp animal bones or wood.
