MS Marco Polo

The MS Marco Polo was a super big ship that used to carry people on exciting trips across the ocean. It wasn't always called Marco Polo, though! It started its life as a different ship called Aleksandr Pushkin, built a long, long time ago in a country called East Germany. Think of it like a toy that gets a cool makeover and a new name to go on new adventures!

This ship had a really long life! It was first built in 1965, which is even before your parents were born! For many years, it sailed as the Aleksandr Pushkin. Then, it got a big makeover and became the MS Marco Polo in 1993. It sailed for many more years, taking people on cruises, before it finally stopped sailing and was taken apart to be recycled.

The MS Marco Polo was special because it was a cruise ship, which means it was like a floating hotel! People would go on vacation and live on the ship, sailing to different amazing places. It was a way for people to see the world without having to pack and unpack all the time. It brought fun and adventure to thousands of people over the years.

Sadly, all good things must come to an end. The MS Marco Polo sailed for the last time a few years ago. Because of something called the COVID-19 pandemic, the company that owned it had to close. The ship was then sold at an auction, like a big sale where people bid to buy things. It was eventually taken to a place called Alang in India to be carefully taken apart and recycled.
