Mount Darwin (Andes)

Mount Darwin is a super tall mountain way down at the bottom of the world, in a place called Tierra del Fuego. It's part of a long line of mountains called the Andes. Think of it like a very, very long mountain chain that stretches for thousands of miles! This mountain is so big, it has huge rivers of ice called glaciers sliding down its sides. It's a wild and chilly place, perfect for adventure!

This mountain got its name a long, long time ago from a captain named Robert FitzRoy. He was sailing on a ship called HMS Beagle with a very clever scientist named Charles Darwin. To celebrate Charles Darwin's birthday, Captain FitzRoy decided to name this big mountain after him! It was like giving a giant birthday present to a friend.

Mount Darwin is covered in amazing glaciers. Glaciers are like slow-moving rivers made of ice! They are so big and heavy that they carve out the land as they move. These glaciers are very important because they hold lots of fresh water. Sometimes, big chunks of ice break off, which is called calving. It's a spectacular sight!

Mount Darwin is in a national park called Alberto de Agostini National Park. This park is like a giant nature playground, protecting the mountain and its icy surroundings.
