Fun Fact
The King of Australia lives in the United Kingdom, which is on the other side of the world!

Who's in Charge Down Under?

Australia is a special country far away, and it has a King who is its boss! His name is King Charles III. He's like the captain of a big ship, and Australia is his ship. But he doesn't live in Australia! He lives in a place called the United Kingdom, which is across a giant ocean. So, how does he be the boss from so far away? He has helpers!

The King's Super Helpers!

The King has a special helper in Australia called the Governor-General. This person is like the King's stand-in, making sure everything runs smoothly. The Governor-General is chosen by the King, but only after talking to Australia's own leaders.

Each part of Australia, called a state, also has its own helper called a Governor. They are all very important people who make sure Australia follows its rules.

A Royal Family Tree!

Did you know that the King of Australia is also the King of other countries too? Australia is part of a big club called the Commonwealth realms. All these countries have the same King or Queen as their head. It's like having a big family where everyone shares the same grandparent! This King has been in charge since September 2022, after the previous Queen, Queen Elizabeth II, passed away.

Australia's Special Rules

Australia has its own special book of rules called the Constitution. This book says that the person who is the King or Queen of the United Kingdom will also be the King or Queen of Australia. It's a very old way of doing things, but Australia has its own leaders who make the important decisions every day. The King or Queen mostly just agrees with what Australia's leaders say!
