A Young Sultan Takes the Throne!

Mehmed IV was born way back in 1642. When he was only seven, he became the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire! That's like becoming the boss of a huge country when you're still in first grade. He didn't do all the work himself at first, of course. His mom and other important people helped him make big decisions. But he was the ruler, and his name was on all the important papers!

Adventures in the Wild!

Mehmed IV loved hunting more than anything. He was known as 'the Hunter'! He would go on amazing hunting trips that lasted for days. Sometimes, he even took his whole royal court with him. Imagine going on a camping trip with thousands of people! He loved chasing after animals like deer and wild boars. These hunting trips were a big part of his life and showed everyone he was a strong leader.

Ruling for a Really Long Time!

Mehmed IV ruled the Ottoman Empire for a super long time – 39 years! That's longer than most people live in school. During his rule, the empire was very powerful. His armies fought many battles and won a lot of them. He was in charge during a time when the empire was still growing and strong, like a giant tree with many branches reaching out.

What Happened to the Hunter King?

Even though he ruled for so long, Mehmed IV didn't stay in charge forever. When he was 49 years old, his own brothers decided it was time for a change. They took away his crown and sent him away. He lived out the rest of his days in a different castle, no longer the powerful Sultan. He died in 1693, a long time after he first became king.
