Martín Cortés, 2nd Marquess of the Valley of Oaxaca

Martín Cortés was born into a super famous family! His dad was Hernán Cortés, a brave explorer who traveled all the way from Spain to a land called Mexico. Martín's mom was Doña Juana de Zúñiga. He even had an older brother named Martín too, but they had different moms! Being the son of such a famous explorer meant Martín had a very special life.

Martín was called the 2nd Marquess of the Valley of Oaxaca. That sounds like a big, fancy title! A Marquess is like a very important noble person, kind of like a prince or a duke. The 'Valley of Oaxaca' was a special place that was given to his family. It was a huge area of land, much bigger than your school playground, and it was very important to them.

Even though Martín came from a famous family, he got into some trouble when he grew up. Some people who lived in the land his family was in felt like they weren't being treated fairly. Martín was involved in a plan with these people. Because of this, he was investigated and had to go to court. Luckily, he wasn't punished with anything too serious!
