Key Facts
The Man Who Was Always There!
Imagine having a best friend who was always by your side, knowing everything and telling you what to do. That's a bit like Martin Bormann was to Adolf Hitler! Bormann was a very important person in Germany a long time ago.
He worked very closely with Hitler, almost like a shadow. He was in charge of making sure Hitler heard the right things and saw the right people. He was like the gatekeeper to the most powerful person in the country!
How He Got So Powerful
Bormann started by managing a big farm. Then, he joined a special group called the Nazi Party. He was very good at his job and quickly moved up.
He became Hitler's private secretary, which meant he was the one who knew what Hitler was doing and thinking. He was also in charge of a big office that made many decisions. He was so good at controlling information that he became one of the most powerful people, even though he wasn't always seen in public!
A Secretive Role
Bormann's job was to make sure Hitler's messages got out and that people who wanted to see Hitler had to go through him. He was like the ultimate filter! He had a lot of power because he decided who got to talk to Hitler and what news Hitler heard.
This meant he could influence big decisions about the country. He was a very busy man, always working behind the scenes to make sure things went his way.
The End of the Road
As the war got closer to ending, Bormann stayed with Hitler in a secret underground place called a bunker. When Hitler died, Bormann tried to escape. Sadly, he probably ended his own life to avoid being caught.
His body was hidden for a long time, and it took many years for people to be sure it was him! He was later put on trial even though he was gone, and people decided he had done very bad things.
