London Borough of Hillingdon

Guess what? Most of Heathrow Airport, one of the busiest airports in the world, is right here in Hillingdon! That means lots of planes take off and land here every single day.

Planes are like giant metal birds carrying people to faraway places. Heathrow is so big it's like a small town all by itself, with shops, restaurants, and lots of people working there. It connects Hillingdon to countries all around the globe, making it a super important place.

Hillingdon wasn't always like it is today. A long, long time ago, it was made up of smaller towns and villages. These places were called Hayes and Harlington, Ruislip-Northwood, Uxbridge, and Yiewsley and West Drayton.

In 1965, all these places decided to join together to become the big Hillingdon borough we know now. It’s like when you and your friends decide to form a super team! This joining up helped make Hillingdon a special place.

Even though Hillingdon is part of London, it's not packed with buildings everywhere. It's actually one of the least crowded places in London! This is because it has lots of green fields and open land, especially in the north.

It also has an airport and a special place for planes called an aerodrome. This means there's plenty of space for parks, rivers, and even farms. It's a great place to enjoy nature and have room to run around.
