The Big Border Adventure!

The Kursk campaign was like a super-secret mission that started in August 2024. It was a big move by Ukraine's soldiers into a place called Kursk Oblast in Russia. Think of it like a team trying to get to the other side of a playground, but this playground was a whole country!

It was a really important event because it was one of the biggest border adventures since a much larger conflict began in 2022.

The adventure kicked off on August 6, 2024. At first, Ukraine's forces made some big gains, capturing an area as big as a very large park! They took over about 28 towns. But then, things got a bit like a tug-of-war. The fighting slowed down, and by the end of the year, Russia started to take back some of the land. It was a back-and-forth game that lasted for months!

This campaign was like a surprise party for Russia! It made them rush to send more soldiers to the area. Ukraine's goal was to make things tough for Russia, maybe capture some soldiers, and try to get them to talk about peace. It was also a way to show that Ukraine was strong and could make big moves. Some people thought it was a success, while others weren't so sure.

Besides Ukraine's brave soldiers, something surprising happened later on. In November, soldiers from North Korea came to help Russia! Imagine if a whole new team suddenly joined one side of a game.
