Welcome to the Land of Wuli!

Wuli was a special kingdom a long, long time ago. It was like a big, important village nestled by the mighty Gambia River. Think of it as a land where people lived, worked, and traded goods. It was located in a place that is now part of two countries, The Gambia and Senegal. This kingdom was a hub of activity, with people coming and going, bringing all sorts of interesting things.

From Little Seed to Big Kingdom

Wuli didn't start out as a super powerful kingdom. First, it was like a smaller friend to bigger empires, paying them respect. But then, a leader named Mansa Jalali Wali helped Wuli become its own independent land!

They had their own special beliefs and traditions. Later, Wuli had to deal with some tough times, facing raids from neighbors. It was a kingdom that grew and changed a lot over many years.

Wuli's Trading Superpowers!

Wuli was super important because it sat right where many trading paths met. Imagine a busy crossroads where people brought shiny gold, useful salt, and cool handmade items to swap. This made Wuli a very busy and wealthy place.

They were also involved in trading people, which sadly brought them wealth but was a very difficult part of their history. Later, they started growing peanuts to trade instead.

A Kingdom Divided

As Wuli got older, people from far away, like Europeans, became very interested in the area. They wanted to trade too! Sadly, this led to Wuli being split up. In the end, two different groups, the British and the French, took parts of Wuli for themselves. This meant the kingdom wasn't one big land anymore, but was divided between these new powers, changing life for the people who lived there.
