Where is King County?
King County is in the state of Washington, way up in the northwest corner of the United States. It's like a big playground with sparkling water and tall, green trees. The biggest city here is Seattle, which is famous for its Space Needle that looks like a rocket ship! Lots of people live in King County, making it a very busy place.
A Name with a Story!
This county used to have a different name, but in 1986, people decided to change it to honor a very important person named Martin Luther King Jr. He was a leader who believed everyone should be treated fairly. Changing the name was a way to remember his amazing work for equality. It's like giving a special nickname to a place to remember someone important.
