Kalanos: The Wise Man Who Walked with a King!

Imagine a very, very smart person from a long, long time ago, even before your grandparents were born! That was Kalanos. He was a special kind of wise man called a gymnosophist and a Brahmin sage.

He came from a place called Taxila. He was so wise that a super famous king named Alexander the Great wanted him to be his teacher! Kalanos was like a wise advisor, sharing his knowledge with the powerful king.

Kalanos didn't just stay home. He went on big adventures with Alexander the Great! They traveled all the way to a place called Persis.

Think of it like going on a very long school trip, but instead of a bus, they traveled across lands. Kalanos was there to share his wisdom and help Alexander understand things. It shows that even the most powerful people need good teachers and friends to guide them.

One day, Kalanos got very sick. He knew his time was coming. Instead of being sad, he decided to do something extraordinary. He walked into a big fire, right in front of Alexander's whole army! It sounds scary, but the stories say he wasn't afraid at all. He said goodbye to his students and told Alexander he would meet him again. It was a very brave and unusual way to say goodbye.

Before he left, Kalanos told Alexander that he would meet him again in Babylon. Guess what? Exactly one year later, Alexander was in Babylon, and sadly, he passed away. It was like Kalanos's promise came true in a surprising way. Kalanos also told Alexander about another wise leader, Dandamis, showing that wisdom can be found in many places and people.
