Taxila

Taxila is a very, very old city in a country called Pakistan. It sits on a big, flat area called the Pothohar Plateau. Think of it like a giant, dry playground! It's not too far from a modern city called Islamabad. This spot was super important a long, long time ago because it was right where big lands met, like a crossroads for ancient travelers and traders.

Taxila is so old, it was around even before castles and knights! It started about 3,000 years ago. Over its long life, many different groups of people ruled here, like the ancient Greeks and a big empire called the Kushan Empire. It was even visited by Alexander the Great! Sometimes, when new rulers came, they would build their own cities right on top of the old ones, making layers of history!

Guess what? Taxila was once like a giant university! For hundreds of years, students from far away came here to learn all sorts of things. They didn't have classrooms like we do, but wise teachers shared their knowledge. It was one of the earliest places where lots of people gathered to study and learn important skills, making it a super smart city!

Today, Taxila is a special place called a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This means it's so important that people around the world want to protect its old buildings and stories. Even though it was forgotten for a while, clever explorers found its ruins. Now, lots of people visit to see the amazing things left behind and learn about the people who lived there thousands of years ago.
